At 8:09 p.m. eastern time Monday night, Air France Flt 7 Airbus A380 Clipped Comair Flt 6293 at John F. Kennedy airport in New York. The left wing of the super jumbo jet ran into the tail of the smaller Delta Connection aircraft, a Bombardier CRJ-700, causing it to swing the little plane almost 30 degrees to the left. No injuries were reported on either plane. The Air France flight, bound for Paris, was required to return to the gate and deplane the passengers. The FAA and NTSB will be investigating.

Air France Flight 007 was taxiing away from Terminal 1 for takeoff when one of its massive wings clipped the tail of Delta Connection Flight 6293 operated by a Comair Bombardier CRJ-700 (N641CA), arriving from Boston. The incident occurred on taxiway M, which is adjacent to Terminal 2.

The wing of an Air France Airbus A380 and the tail of a Comair plane made contact, though it was unclear which plane struck the other, the Federal Aviation Administration said. The Comair plane had landed from Boston, and the Airbus was to have flown to Paris.

Looking out the window, Bittermann could see that the last foot or so of the Airbus 380's left wing had been damaged. The other plane also suffered some damage.

It was not immediately apparent if either plane had incorrectly followed the control tower’s instructions or if a controller had misdirected one of the planes to move when or where it should not have. The FAA and NTSB will investigate.
